Abraham Naim è uno studente delle Maldive conosciuto come Medulla Oblongata, il suo alter-ego di drag queen sfrontata per il quale è diventato famoso sulla scena LGBTQ di Auckland. Ma la vita di Abe non è stata sempre così.
Biografia del regista
Roberto è nato in Brasile e si è trasferito in Nuova Zelanda quattordici anni fa. Da allora ha lavorato per il cinema, teatro e televisione rivestendo diversi ruoli, da attore a produttore, passando per la regia. Nella regia ha trovato la sua vera passione ed ha realizzato diversi cortometraggi che hanno girato nei festival di tutto il mondo (Review; Satisfaction; Dick Knows; Wellington, Medulla Oblongata, Mad Hunter) ed una Webserie (Sui Generis). Attualmente sta lavorando alla seconda stagione della web series (Sui Generis) ed al documentario “Butterfly”. Più recentemente ha realizzato i pilot di 2 web serie (LiBros e Cheeky First Dates) selezionate (Top 10) tra le finaliste al TVNZ New Blood WebSeries.

Maldivian student Abraham Naim is better known as his alter ego: the powerful and sassy drag queen Medulla Oblongata, a notable figure in the Auckland LGBTQ scene. But life was not always this way for Abe. Granted refugee status in New Zealand due to the persecution he faced for being gay in the Maldives – where the official religion is Islam – Medulla Oblongata will explore where Abe is now and the life he left behind
Director Biography
Roberto was born in Brazil and moved to New Zealand 14 years ago. Since then, he worked in theatre, TV and Film in a range of different roles, from actor to producer and now as a director. As a director, he found his true passion and has directed short films that played in local and international festivals (Review; Satisfaction; Dick Knows; Wellington) and a Webseries (Sui Generis). He also directed two short documentaries: Medulla Oblongata (just accepted into two international festivals) and Mad Hunter (out July 28). He is currently working on the second season of his web series (Sui Generis), as well as a feature documentary (Butterfly, due in 2018). More recently, he made 2 web pilots (LiBros and Cheeky First Dates) and both were selected out of 163 entries as finalists (Top 10) at TVNZ’s New Blood WebSeries competition.
